A nature-lover’s paradise, Blythedale Beach is part of the Zululand Birding Route, with long stretches of white sandy beaches bordered by natural coastal forest. Located just under an hour’s drive from Durban at the northern point of the Dolphin Coast, Blythedale Beach is a quaint seaside village surrounded by natural coastal vegetation, which is protected by the Blythedale Conservancy. The beach is great for swimming, surfing, and fishing. Luckily, this quiet and peaceful beach offers you kilometres of beach perfect for a long walk with your four-legged friend. Your pup is more than welcome at Blythedale Beach but it is always a great idea to keep him on a lead if there are other people or dogs around. However, because of the extent of the beach, it is possible you may not see another person on your stroll, so if you and your dog feel comfortable, this secluded beach is perfect to let your pup run free. As always, only let your pup off his lead if you are certain he isn’t in danger or can cause harm to any other animal, wild or domestic. If your doggy loves chasing birds or other small animals, it is best not to let him free, as this is a nature-sensitive area.
