Clifton’s beaches

One of Cape Town’s most affluent suburbs, Clifton is found nestled between Sea Point and Camps Bay on the Atlantic Seaboard. Take note of which beaches allow dogs, as there are four beaches in Clifton. Clifton’s four beaches have been described as some of the best beaches in the world. There are four beaches within Clifton, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Beach. Each beach is separated from the next by massive granite boulders and all are very popular with locals and tourists alike, partly because the beaches are sheltered from the strong south-easterly winds and partly because of the bright white quartzite sea sand. Clifton’s 4th Beach is a Blue Flag beach as it adheres to strict safety and environmental standards. The only beach of the four where dogs are allowed to run free at all times is Clifton’s 1st Beach. Dogs are only allowed on the other three beaches between April and November. Luckily, they are allowed off-lead at these times. Because these beaches are so popular it is best to keep your dog close to you and the lead handy.
