Just a short stroll from the bohemian vibe of Kalk Bay, Danger Beach is only so named due to its riptides and huge waves. Danger Beach is popular with surfers, stand-up paddlers, and dog-walkers as dogs are allowed to run free at all times. A few steps from St. James train station, Danger Bay is a tiny strip of white beach nestled within the quirky fishing town of Kalk Bay. Access to the beach can be made through the subway below the railway. It is not great for swimming due to the large waves and riptides, but this makes it a popular surf spot. If you want to brave the cold Atlantic waters, it is recommended that you use the small tidal pool instead of risking the strong currents. The good news is that dogs are allowed to run free on Danger Beach at all times of the year. There are a number of great restaurants and coffee shops along the main road of Kalk Bay, and best of all, many of them welcome our four-legged besties. Grab your pup, bring your sunhat and take a meander down to Danger Beach.
