East & West Beach

Located a few kilometres north of the coastal village of Port Alfred, East Beach has been described as a beautiful and secluded beach that is ‘the best place to walk your dog’.  Port Alfred was founded as a tiny fishing village in the 1800s, and has retained its quaint coastal hamlet charm. Found within the famous Sunshine Coast in the Eastern Cape, Port Alfred offers kilometres of pristine sandy beaches and various outdoor activities. It’s The town’s two main beaches are named according to their location in relation to the warm, tidal Kowie River. East Beach, slightly north of the mouth of the Kowie, is bordered by high dunes and is popular with sandboarders and surfers. West Beach is a lovely family-friendly beach safe for swimming and other water activities like whale-watching and scuba diving. Both beaches are dog-friendly but because of the potential for meeting other beach lovers and their furry families, it is best to keep your four-legged buddy on a lead.
