Found further up the west coast of the country and about 120 km from Cape Town, Langebaan is known as the ‘Jewel of the West Coast’. A protected lagoon offers a mild climate and waters perfect for a variety of water sports. Dogs and their two-legged humans are always welcome in Langebaan! Located on the eastern side of the Langebaan Lagoon, the town of Langebaan is an official Ramsar site for wetlands of international significance because of its protected wetlands that host a variety of bird, animal, and plant species. Langebaan also borders the West Coast National Park. Calypso Beach, which is Langebaan’s main beach is perfect for a long stroll with your pup. There is a little bit of uncertainty if dogs are allowed on Langebaan beach, especially because of its conservation value, so if you want to bring your furbaby along for a walk, make sure you check with your local officials and always keep your pup on a lead.
