Mazeppa Bay

A hidden gem on the Wild Coast, Mazeppa Bay is a great starting point from where you and your dogs can explore one of the most beautiful and untouched areas in the Eastern Cape. Named after a grounded ship that unfortunately found its way onto the beach in 1892, Mazeppa Bay is part of one of South Africa’s most beautiful and wild destinations – the Wild Coast. Towering sand dunes shield the beach, providing peace and quiet for those sunrise or sunset strollers and their pups. A sense of calm characterises these serene landscapes and one may even encounter the odd local dog or nguni cow on your walks – so make sure your dogs are friendly, or keep them on a leash. Known as the ‘best kept South African secret’  by the locals, Mazeppa Bay also has a suspension beach that crosses from the mainland to a tiny, rocky offshore island. The bridge is located on Mazeppa Bay First Beach, but there are two other main beaches towards the south of the lagoon. So, grab your fishing rod, a hat, and some water for your best furry friend, and head out to Mazeppa Bay beaches for some time out.
