Salmon Bay Beach

A beautiful, scenic and popular beach, complete with its own promenade that ends at Willard Beach. Salmon Bay Beach is a great place to spend the day with your pup – don’t forget to stop at a few of the restaurants for their ‘canine menus’ and water bowls for your furry friend. Salmon Bay Beach is a popular spot for swimmers, surfers, anglers, and sunbathers. It can get quite busy here because it is a beautiful and unspoilt beach just south of the holiday town of Ballito. The Ballito Promenade, which is a raised wooden walkway, starts at Salmon Bay. This 4 km boardwalk was raised to protect the bordering sand dunes, and provides a lovely view of the Dolphin Coast; look closely and you may spot the numerous bottle-nosed dolphins that visit the shoreline. Salmon Bay is most definitely dog-friendly, even offering a number of dog-friendly restaurants with ‘canine menus’. Dogs are most definitely allowed on both the beach and the promenade but need to be kept on leads at all times. Keep an eye out for any signposts that may indicate where you can or can’t take your pup. And, always remember to bring your doggy bags for any waste or litter.
