Treasure Beach is aptly named; a hidden ‘treasure’ cove located at the foot of a long flight of stairs, this special beach is a great place for all nature lovers and their pups. Just south of Durban and close to the Bluff, Treasure Beach is a favourite snorkelling spot, specifically because of its abundance of sea life. The rocky shore is also a haven for marine life and is enjoyed by fishermen and rock pool treasure hunters alike. The best part of Treasure Beach is that it is also dog-friendly. To ensure the safety of your dog and other beach visitors, it is recommended that you keep your furry friend on a lead. Grab a trash bag before you leave, as this is a well-known eco-friendly spot and also the site of one of the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa’s (WESSA) environmental education centres. It is encouraged to keep Treasure Beach clean and free of litter and waste, so pick up after your dog.
